I know I'm a day late with this but Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there. We don't get enough credit daily for all that we do, but on Mother's Day everyone takes a moment to remember the special caregivers in their lives, the women who make sacrifices to ensure the health and prosperity of their offspring.
I had a very nice Mother's Day. It was more action packed than last year when we relaxed at Yaya's house all day and had a nice Mexican dinner out.
I woke up to flowers and a card from my sweetie and our little angel.
Aaron's mom got her flowers on Friday.
Yaya's arrived on Saturday. Hers were a little wilted from the delivery truck but they perked up after some cool water and sunlight.
Bailey and I painted our toenails before we headed out for the day. It's hard to see here because she just won't sit still for a picture but her big toe is pink, the next two toes are purple, and the last two toes are yellow. She chose the colors, I just painted, and I painted mine to match hers.
This year Yaya and my brother loaded up the kayaks and we headed to the park.
My brother and I went out on the lake in the kayaks while Yaya played with Bailey on the playground. It was nice for everyone. Yaya got to spend one on one time with Bailey and I got to spend a little over an hour away from Bailey.
Since we didn't have a life vest for Bailey she didn't get to go out on the water with us, but we did let her sit in the kayak just off the shore for a few minutes. She was starting to get anxious about me being so far away and inaccessible. Getting in the kayak with me seemed to calm her. Plus, for a kid who loves water as much as Bailey it was pretty cool to be able to reach out and touch the water on either side.
Kayaking was fun. It was a workout but thanks to the abs/arms challenges I've been doing every month this year I was up for it. I had expected my arms and back to be sore today but the only thing that hurts is the sunburn.
We snapped this picture before heading to Admiral's for dinner. We try to take one every year.
This is the picture from two years ago. I don't seem to have a copy of the one from last year. Just look how much Bailey has grown!
I still haven't made my birthday cupcakes yet because so many people made or bought me sweets for my birthday. I was trying to hold off until I could enjoy them without worrying that other desserts would go bad before I finish them. I think I'm going to try to make them sometime this week. Perhaps I'll make them Friday and take the leftovers to Aaron's parents for dessert on Saturday.
