Chicken and penne alfredo

Today is laundry day.  I only do laundry once a week.  Aaron handles his own laundry so it's just mine and Bailey's and even with our towels and blankets it's only two loads of laundry each week.

As soon as Bailey went to sleep I started the white load.  Then I made hamburger patties and stuck them in the fridge ready to cook for dinner.  Next I cleaned the kitchen from breakfast and swept and mopped.  I moved the whites to the dryer and started the colors.  I tidied the living room (Cheerios again) and re-organized the DVD rack.  About the time I got the laundry moved over and had half of the white load folded Bailey woke up.

Chicken Taco Chili

I just want to start out with this:  I cannot wait for my cat to get better!

I love her so much, but she fights tooth and claw against her medicines and her food.  I'm actually pretty good at getting cats to take pills.  I used to take care of my former boss's cats when she would go out of town and they were all very old and on lots of different medications.  I could get them to keep their pills down no problems, but Rhada is a different story.  Every single pill is a fight and she has to have 7 each day.  My patience is wearing thin.

Menu for 1/28/13-2/3/13

Lazy Sundays are so nice.  I have spent most of today just hanging out, watching television, munching on graham crackers and peanut butter.  I didn't have much of a plan for today anyway.

Luckily I have next week's menu already planned.  Actually I've had it planned for almost a month.  I'm pretty excited about some of our meals this week.

Chocolate frosting

Cupcakes!

I made cupcakes last night and they were FABULOUS!  I got the recipe from Annie's Eats.  It's her standard chocolate cupcake recipe.  Any recipe she makes that calls for chocolate cupcakes always starts with these (most recently the turtle cupcakes from a couple of weeks ago which I can't wait to try) but this is my first try at making them.

Just one of those days...

Today has been a colossal timing failure.  I woke up late, nap time didn't last long enough, and I started dinner stuff way too late.  The only redeeming accomplishment today was getting my linen closet all organized.

Remember me saying that my house has a severe lack of storage space?  No?  Well, it does.  That is why I will never have a linen closet that is just for linens.  My linen closet is also the medicine cabinet, extra toiletries storage, and it also keeps all of the seasonal things like Easter baskets.

Catching up

Since yesterday's schedule was disrupted I had to work overtime today to catch up.  Bailey is finally back to her normal sleep routine so we were up at 9:00 today.  That meant nap time was earlier and boy did I get some work done.

I was so tired last night that I couldn't make myself clean up the kitchen so I had to do that first.  I loaded and ran the dishwasher, cleared and wiped down the counters, took the pizza dough out of the freezer to thaw, and swept and mopped.  With a toddler munching on Cheerios and dragging her sippy cup around everywhere the floor can get quite messy so we sweep twice a day usually and mop at least every other day.  The kitchen was sparkling when I finished.  I love a sparkling kitchen!

Baked chicken with gravy

Today during nap time I accomplished:

NOTHING

I would love to say that today I did this, and this, and that, oh and this too, but I didn't.  We have been waking up extraordinarily late the past few weeks.  For those of you who live in East Tennessee you will understand when I say the weather has been gloomy lately.  It even snowed last week (after a week straight of raining).  The rainy weather with the dark clouds lingering all day and the colder temperatures just make it harder to wake up in the morning.  Even Bailey has been sleeping in.  And I'm sure it doesn't help that for some reason I can't seem to switch my brain off until early morning.

My first day off since July

This past Sunday I had an unexpected day off!  It happens so seldom that I hadn't fully prepared for Aaron to take care of Bailey.  I told him to get her a hamburger from McDonald's for lunch because I didn't have anything for him to feed her for lunch.

Menu for 1/21/13-1/27/13 and Pizza baked spaghetti

I have a tendency to do my meal planning as far in advance as possible.  I plan out an entire month at a time. I actually already have February planned out; I did it over a week ago.  Since I do most of my grocery shopping for the month in one trip to Kroger and one trip to Target it helps to know exactly what I'm going to need.  However, sometimes I forget things.  I mentioned in my first post that I forget snack foods.  I never buy chips or granola bars or anything to just munch on (unless it's specifically for Bailey).  I also seem to forget to consider desserts.

Mommies don't get weekends off

My daughter sleeps very late in the mornings.  I'm not sure why because she goes to bed at a decent time, but usually I can sleep in at least until 9:00.  This morning for some reason she decided to get up very early.  By 8:30 she was standing up in the crib, slapping the wall between her bedroom and ours to call attention to herself.

Just an introduction

Hi, my name is Sara.  I am a stay-at-home mom to a beautiful 14 month old girl, Bailey, who is my world.
