Wishlist Wednesday July 2014

Welcome to Wishlist Wednesday! I have some awesome wishes to share this month. There is a summer theme since we're finally really into summer. Let's jump right in!

A Wish for Something Pretty:

I have this friend, Suzanne, from high school and she makes the most darling jewelry. She has a booth at the Market Square Farmer's Market here in town, but she also sells her stuff on Etsy. She also makes clothes. She sews and knits and crochets. Her stuff is all very unique and I would seriously buy most of it if I had the money. Check out her Etsy shop. It's worth a look.

A Wish for a Healthy Nephew:

So my cousin's second little bundle of joy is due in about a month and I've already knitted him a gorgeous, soft, fluffy blanket. But just look how easy these little booties are! I could make tons of them with one ball of yarn or I could make them in lots of different colors. There's nothing like something handmade for a newborn.

A Wish for Big Laughs:

This is not the actual cover but I love this poster. Season 7 won't be released on DVD until September 16 but I'm already pumped about it. It's one of my favorite shows and I'm consistently a season behind because I always forget what night it airs and have to wait until it comes out on DVD to catch up. If you haven't watched it yet you totally should! Especially in the last few seasons I have really been loving the ladies on this show. Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch have added so much dimension to the show. I love the guys too but Bernadette and Amy have been stealing the show for me lately.

A Wish for a Fun Drink:

I'm not much of a drinker aside from the occasional hard lemonade but these drinks are so cool! I want to try them all... just not all at once. I would start with Sleeping Beauty because Aurora is my favorite princess. I wonder if there's a Tinkerbell drink! I should probably look that up.

A Wish for the Perfect S'more:

S'mores are good even with inferior ingredients and you could definitely use the store bought marshmallows but why would you when homemade marshmallows are this easy? Pair them with some of those little Ghiradelli chocolate squares (any kind really but I happen to really like the ones with the raspberry in them) and you have something truly special and delicious. Annie even makes her own graham crackers, something I have yet to try.

A Wish for an Amazing Hamburger:

The Best Hamburger Seasoning from Budget Savvy Diva
It's summer and that means grilling. We may not have grilled for Memorial Day this year but there is still plenty of grilling season left. This recipe is similar to a recipe I already use except mine doesn't include brown sugar. I'm curious to see how a bit of sweetness changes the flavor of the meat.

A Wish for Crispy Baked Sweet Potato Fries:

You can't have a burger without french fries and I could totally trade normal french fries for sweet potato fries and never look back. Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite favorites ever and this recipe promises the fries will be crispy which is the one thing I've been missing from the sweet potato fries I've made in the past. Also, I've never actually tried sriracha anything so I'm curious how the sriracha mayo dip tastes.

A Wish for Kid-Made Ice Cream:

I remember doing this a lot as a kid. We put our bag of ice cream mix inside a coffee can full of ice and salt and took turns kicking it around outside until the ice cream was frozen enough to eat. Bailey has never had homemade ice cream and this should be super fun for her. As long as I can keep her from eating the salty ice out of the bag we'll be good to go.

And there you have it, my wishes for July. Please let me know in the comments what you think of this feature. I'm dying for some feedback.

  1. I love this idea and I am hoping you have some of those s'mores and sweet potato fries on hand when I come home. My favorite wish is the second one, good wishes for our next baby in the family!

I want to add a wish, but I am having a hard time choosing.

Keep blogging. I love reading it!

    1. Yes, when you come we will have a cook out at Nana's and make burgers and sweet potato fries and have s'mores and homemade ice cream for dessert! Maybe I'll even break down and try to make those homemade graham crackers.
