Menu for 10/28/13-11/3/13

My weekend was jam packed with exciting activities!  First we had portraits with Li'l P Friday morning, dinner with Grandmother and Papaw Friday night, I had to work Saturday morning, and then I came home and made cupcakes for Nightmare Night.  At Nightmare Night we got to meet some ducks and a goose (just like the game!) and interrupt everyone's games, and dance to some dubstep with a glow stick!  This was actually the first time Bailey has ever thrown a fit over being put in the car seat.  Actually, she usually climbs in all by herself.  And finally on Sunday night we visited Admiral and played with crayons and stack cups and finger puppets after dinner.

It really was a great weekend and I don't want to sound like I'm complaining, but apparently the terrible twos have hit our house about a week early.  Bailey threw a tantrum at the portrait studio on Friday morning and cried through 2/3 of the pictures.  Actually, the last two pictures they took of her she is in full on fit mode, bawling her eyes out, throwing herself on the floor and smacking herself in the head.  I was so embarrassed by her behavior, but I know it's all part of growing up, learning boundaries by testing them.

I was still pretty tired from Friday morning's tantrum on Saturday when I was trying to get everyone ready to go to Nightmare Night.  It was supposed to be a costume party so I tried to put Bailey's costume on.  Now, I know one of the reasons the tantrum started at the portrait studio was that I had tried to change her from pajamas to her kitty costume, but I thought maybe she just didn't like the way it felt so I decided to try her other costume option, a super adorable pink cowgirl costume complete with boots and a hat.  I only managed to get it over her head before she started screaming.  She threw herself to the ground, kicked and smacked her head and banged it on the floor, pulled at the costume trying to get it off, and screamed in a horribly demonic voice to get it off of her.  This went on for 45 minutes, until she finally calmed down enough to ask politely and calmly for me to remove the costume.  After all that the only clothes I could get her to wear were her flannel pajamas so I just  put them on her and took her to the car.  We were about an hour and a half late by the time we arrived at Nightmare Night.

So far today has been much easier.  We haven't left the house yet, she went down for her nap without a fight, and she ate every bite of both breakfast and lunch.  I have discovered that Bailey prefers Greek yogurt to regular yogurt which is wonderful, and that her new favorite cereal is frosted mini wheats.  Hopefully she will wake up from her nap well-rested and ready to enjoy an evening with Yaya!

This week is going to be a bit crazy.  I have to make a cake for a friend on Wednesday (her boss is retiring), Thursday is Halloween so we will be visiting family in costume (if we can manage to get it on and leave it on without a fight), and Saturday is Bailey's birthday so we are having a party at Admiral's house.  I am so thrilled with her birthday present.  I had one of the artists in the Brony community to paint Pinkie Pie on a bean bag toss game for her and it turned out even better than I had hoped!  I'll post pictures of it after her birthday.  I will be busy baking most of the week since I also have to make Bailey's cake and I'm not sure how it will turn out yet.  I'm excited to try a couple of new techniques, but I had hoped I would get a chance to practice before her birthday and unfortunately I haven't had time.
