Menu for 3/24/14-3/30/14

Bailey had her first visit to the zoo this weekend. We got up early Saturday morning and met Aunt Shelia to go see the red pandas (or Tobies as Bailey calls them) and the meerkats and the prairie dogs. We spent a long time watching the river otters play and there was a chimpanzee that was showing off for us. Bailey particularly liked the meerkats who were playing a game with her, jumping out from a corner of the enclosure and startling her. Some of the other visitors were even amused with Bailey's reactions to the meerkats.

When we got to the petting zoo she went right in with Aunt Shelia and brushed and petted and hugged and kissed the goats and sheep. This kid just really loves animals! The only downside was that she had to get up so early and we were out for so long that by the time we finished dinner she was exhausted! I think she was almost tired enough to pass out in my lap but she knew better than to sit still that long.

I made a big pot of beef stew Saturday night to feed ten people. Aaron's sister and her three kids, his parents, his sister-in-law Shelia, and the three of us all gathered at his parents' house for dinner. The stew couldn't possibly have fed another person and the kids ate all of the bread we brought. Thank goodness I had thought ahead to bring a pack of Hawaiian rolls along with the peasant bread just in case.

This week should be kind of laid back. So far our only plans are normal routine family visits and dinners and grocery shopping. We will have to make a special trip to Walmart for cat food probably tomorrow, but otherwise we should be able to rest and relax at home and hopefully catch up on some of the sleep we've missed this weekend.
