This has been one of those weeks where almost nothing goes right. It has a ripple effect. When something goes wrong I spend all night cleaning up the mess. When I'm busy cleaning up the mess I don't have time to cook. When I don't have time to cook I end up with a bunch of extra groceries that either go bad or end up in the freezer and when my menu doesn't go the way I planned it I get confused and don't know what to cook when I finally get the chance.
I think people sometimes don't understand what I mean when I say I'm a compulsive planner. I spend more time and thought planning things than actually doing things. When I plan something and it doesn't go according to the plan I get anxious and confused. It sounds silly to be confused over something so simple, but that's the best way I can describe it.
That is how the whole week felt to me. We didn't have dinner with Admiral Sunday which meant I had to figure out something else to do for dinner. Then Monday we were supposed to have gotten snow (snow that never showed) so we postponed dinner with Yaya. I decided to just move everything up a day but something came up that had me busy all night and at 10:00 we finally just got fast food for dinner. Tuesday I came home from Nana's prepared to cook dinner only to have Aaron come home from work craving Pizza Hut so we ordered pizza instead. Wednesday I hopped ahead and made the new recipe for the week because I was afraid if I didn't go ahead and make it I wouldn't have anything new to post this week. Thursday I let Aaron choose which of the remaining meals on the menu he wanted so I didn't have to pick myself and Friday we went to Yaya's.
I was so discombobulated by Saturday and we were so late getting on the road to Aaron's parents' house that I had a mini-meltdown and asked if I could please not be responsible for dinner. I have no idea what we'll be doing this week. What I have listed below is my original meal plan for the week, but I'm seriously debating just cramming all of our missed meals from last week into this week since I already bought the ingredients for them. I guess I'm just going to have to try to roll with it this week.
On a much better note I completed my 4th workout challenge this week. I'm really proud of myself for sticking to it even if it is only a few sit-ups and push-ups each day or some squats and lunges each night before bed. It's the first time I've made it more than a month on any exercise plan since I was in college and it feels so good to cross off each of the exercises every day. I'm also incredibly proud that I can now do a full sit-up with ease. In January I couldn't possibly have done that. On the new challenge that I began Monday I even started doing full push-ups instead of the wimpy knee push-ups that took all of my strength just two months ago. Sometime in the middle of last month I got up to a 3 minute plank and was so excited I had to share with all my friends on Facebook.
Hey, one more thing before we get to the menu. What do you guys think of the new look? I changed it by accident the other night playing around and didn't know how to change it back. I don't mind though because I think it looks pretty cool.
