Menu for 7/1/13-7/7/13

After the excitement of the hospital Friday I was relieved today when Dad cancelled dinner tonight.  I was looking forward to having some down time.  We did get together for ice cream this evening.  I got to share some wonderful mocha almond fudge with Bailey.  Actually, she ate some of everyone's ice cream.  She kept stealing bites of Dad and CJ's mint chocolate chip too.

This morning we had some really amazing cinnamon sugar pull-apart bread.  It was a very time consuming process and I woke up later than I had expected so I made some bacon and eggs for breakfast and the bread was more of a snack, but it was so worth the wait.

I didn't have anything planned for dinner so we decided to go Olive Garden.  We had $50 in gift cards that we got for Christmas at least 2 years ago so we finally used them.  Neither of us could finish our dinner so now I have something for lunch tomorrow.

We still haven't decided what to do on the 4th so I don't know if I should plan on cooking at home or at Grandmother and Papaw's house.  Aaron has the day off so we might go out to his parents' and grill some burgers or chicken and sit out on the porch if it doesn't rain.  I got a nice pork loin on sale last week that I cut into some thick juicy chops so I may do something with those.  I would love to have some fireworks but they're illegal in our area.

I do have some nice meals planned this week.  There's a new potato side dish and we'll be sharing one of our favorite new meals from last month with Aaron's parents.  I'm thinking of trying some new dessert recipes too.  I might do some cupcakes or try some kind of crumble or pie with this wonderful fresh fruit that's on sale.  I love fresh produce in the summer!
