Menu for 12/9/13-12/15/13

You know what I love about holiday baking? I get to try new cookie recipes!

This week I made cookies for Yaya to take to a cookie swap and I have to say they turned out fantastically well! She chose chocolate covered cherry cookies (which I made for the first time last Christmas) and a new recipe, orange cranberry oatmeal cookies.

I promise to share the recipes with you soon (as in this week soon) because how could you resist this...

...or this:

I couldn't resist. I ate several of them before I handed them over to Yaya. Obviously the orange cranberry oatmeal cookies are similar to oatmeal raisin cookies except with cranberries instead of raisins and with a lovely orange finish, but honestly you have got to try the chocolate covered cherry cookies when I finally get the recipe up. They're like little chocolate brownie bites with a maraschino cherry in the middle and drizzled with rich, cherry laced, melted chocolate. They are fabulous and fancy and deceptively easy to make (though definitely read the whole recipe before starting because the first time I made these I accidentally added the whole can of sweetened condensed milk and it took forever to add enough chocolate chips to balance it out) making them the perfect cookie to take to a Christmas party or cookie swap or to hand out as gifts because they look super impressive.

Okay, I must get my mind off of these cookies! Here is this week's menu.
