Menu for 11/11/13-11/17/13

Who has seen the new Thor?  I have!  I have!

Thankfully, Aaron gave me Friday night off to spend an evening child-free with Dad, his girlfriend, and my brother.  We are huge Marvel/Avengers fans!  In fact, my brother and I are already making plans to go see the new Captain America and the new X-men when they come out sometime in May, conveniently right around my birthday.

So, we started the evening with dinner at Noodles & Company.  I had never been before.  They have all kinds of noodles (hence the name) from pad Thai to spaghetti and meatballs.  They also serve salads and sandwiches (on this amazing bread that I really want the recipe for) and dishes like buttered noodles, noodle stroganoff, and macaroni and cheese.  Amazingly I actually ordered the macaroni and cheese.  You would think that living with Aaron and cooking it for him almost every night would make me want something different, but their macaroni and cheese looked so good and they had a special on barbecue pork macaroni and cheese with pulled pork, barbecue sauce, and crispy fried onions.  It was pretty darn good.

After dinner we headed over to Steak 'n Shake for some milkshakes.  Dad and I shared a chocolate malt.  Then we went to the theater for the movie.

As much as I've enjoyed all of the Marvel/Avengers movies, the first Thor was a bit of a let down.  Don't get me wrong, I loved it.  I just saw it as more of a prequel to the first Avengers movie rather than a movie about Thor.  At least Iron Man and Captain America got their own movies before the Avengers.  The new Thor totally made up for anything I was lacking from the first one.  I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it!
