Menu for 8/5/13-8/11/13

We have had one very busy week/weekend.  I feel like I have run around like crazy all week.  I made two trips to the store this week, one to Kroger for groceries and one to Target for diapers and toiletry items.  My very best friend in the whole world accidentally forgot her umbrella in a restaurant on my side of town (about 45 minutes from her house and almost an hour and a half from her office) so I went to retrieve it for her.  We had some fun outside at Yaya's house Monday night chasing wiffle balls in the back yard... until we had an accident with a firefly and decided to go back inside.  The spaghetti and meatballs was a huge hit again when I made it for Aaron's parents Saturday night.

But the best day of all was Friday when we spent the day with Aunt Shelia at Dollywood!  I thought Bailey had fun last time we went, but it was nothing compared to this trip.  Last time we never made it down to the kiddie rides with her so we headed that way first thing.  They have three rides for small children that are similar to a carousel (which she hated last time we went) but instead of horses they have small car-like seats.

The pigs and the ducks just go round and round, but the bees also go up and down.  We skipped the bees this time.  (Actually, we were in line for the bees at one point, but she grabbed my hand and led me back to the stroller so I figured it was probably time to go.)

We let her ride the pigs first.  She was happy to get in and buckle up, but as soon as I started to walk away (since parents can't be inside the gate once they start the ride) she got nervous and started to whine.

All of a sudden, mid-whine the ride revved up and immediately turned the whine into a giggle!  Her face was priceless!  I couldn't get enough.  We let her ride the pigs twice and she laughed through the whole ride both times.

Shelia let her play the duck game after her ride on the pigs.  She won a turtle and an elephant, but of course the highlight for her was putting her hands in the water to catch the ducks.

After the success with the ride we walked across the park to play in the splash pad again.  I thought we would be there for about half an hour, then go get some lunch.  It was about noon when we got her swimsuit on and let her loose in the splash pad, but at 1:30 we had to drag her away to get her dressed for lunch.

She played with kids of all ages in the water, running around just happy as could be, in and out of the sprays.  I would have let her play longer, but she was getting tired (and a bit pink since I forgot to spray her with sunblock) and we were quite hungry.

We went to the chicken house for lunch where Bailey feasted on rotisserie chicken thighs, green beans, and cooked apples.

She finished off her meal with Jell-o, one of her favorite snacks.  After lunch we walked around, trying to let her nap in the stroller, but she was having too much fun to nap so we stopped for some ice cream, then went back to the kiddie rides and let her ride the pigs one more time, and then the ducks once.

After the ducks Bailey was showing serious fatigue so we packed up and headed for the exit.  She passed out in the stroller before we got there and I carried her asleep back to the car again.  I think the day was quite successful and I can't wait to take her back.  Maybe next time she can try the bees.

After all that I didn't get around to making dinner Friday night.  We picked up some Chick-fil-A on the way home and Bailey went to bed early.  So did I.  I was exhausted too.
